Steven Goodchild Never left a Bandcamp comment before but I heard this on Guy Garveys 6 music show and from the opening bars I was hooked. I’m no musicologist but every lyric punches straight to the core and the rise of the pace and angst throughout is genius. Not in a good frame of mind at the moment but tunes like this just lift me. If I’m gonna pick one lyric it’ll be “All the things that ever kept me standing up have gone” This track is now imprinted upon me. Favorite track: Crisis.

lyrics

Every morning there’s an ache
It’s no big deal
Just seems my heart just wants to break
I can’t find the words to let you go
I just wanna be the girl I always thought I’d know

All the things that ever kept me standing up have gone
And everything I know’s been proven wrong
I’m a firecracker going off in some strange guy’s backyard
And everyone I know is different now

There’s a hurricane
It’s in your eyes
I don’t want to be a part of this thing anymore
I’d rather run into a fire
And leave all my clothes and all our bullshit on your floor
All the things that ever kept me standing up have gone
And everyone I know is moving on
I’m a firecracker going off in some strange guy’s backyard
And everyone I know is different now

The pills won’t change my mind
Just validate the crisis
My love for you faded away that night

I’m gonna trade it all for something new
Get a shitty job,
Might even sell my body, too
I don’t want to be here
I don’t want to wait
I don’t want to hate you
But I can try

All the things that ever kept you standing up have gone
And everyone you know is moving on
Be a funny guy who hides behind a mask and still gets high
And I will walk myself into a fire

The pills won’t change my mind
Just validate the crisis
My love for you faded away that night

The pills won’t change my mind
Just validate the crisis
My love for you faded away that night
